The Ora (2017)

In The ORA (2018), artist Haiiileen continues her exploration of energy, vibration, and reflection through an immersive light-based performance. The work merges the physical and metaphysical, transforming light into a living entity that mirrors human emotion.

Positioned at the crossroads of synesthesia, performance, and new media, The ORA visualizes the unseen frequencies that connect perception, spirituality, and movement. It is both a ritual and a revelation — a study of how aura, energy, and color communicate the invisible architecture of being.

Title: The ORA (2017) – Performance and Light Installation by Haiiileen

  • Artist / Creative Director: Haiiileen
  • Medium: Mixed-media, Acrylic, LED lighting
  • Year: 2017
  • Location: Miami, FL
  • 9 ft L x 6 ft W x 2 ft D

The ORA is a performance-based light installation that captures the radiance of human energy through the language of reflection and transparency. Using mirrors, refractive materials, and sound-reactive light, Haiiileen built a physical environment that responds to body motion and emotional presence.

The performance served as a living portrait of transformation — as the artist embodied shifting frequencies of color, each hue representing a stage of emotional evolution. The installation’s mirrored geometry amplified this aura field, creating infinite refractions of the self within light.

“The ORA is about translating energy into visibility — showing how emotion becomes light.” — Haiiileen

  • Aura Visualization: Translating metaphysical energy into visible color and reflection.
  • Synesthetic Mapping: Connecting emotional tone to chromatic frequency.
  • Performance as Portal: Using embodiment and movement to open energetic channels.
  • Reflection and Multiplicity: The mirror as both an object and a metaphor for human perception.
  • Reflective mirrored surfaces and transparent acrylic panels.
  • Reactive LED lighting programmed to shift color temperature with movement.
  • Handcrafted costume and makeup incorporating reflective and translucent materials.
  • Custom sound environment built from ambient tones and heart-rate-based frequencies.
  • Performance documentation through still photography and slow-motion video.

“In The ORA, I wanted to step into my own aura — to understand how energy travels through the body, how emotion refracts through light, and how reflection can heal. It was my first time consciously choreographing energy rather than dance.”

This piece became a catalyst for Haiiileen’s ongoing interest in aura reading, chromatic psychology, and human frequency, directly influencing her 2024 performance project Aura Readings commissioned by Citadel.

  • Marks the first formal articulation of aura as artistic medium in Haiiileen’s career.
  • Bridges her performative works (Bjork: The Spirit, 2018) with her large-scale public light installations (LightScapes, 2019).
  • Integrates her background in fashion and beauty direction into conceptual performance.
  • Establishes the recurring motif of mirror as consciousness in her later series (Prismatic Queen, 2025).
  • Represents a pivotal moment in developing her spiritual synesthetic language.

“Light is the truest mirror of emotion. In The ORA, I realized energy isn’t just something we feel — it’s something we can sculpt, reflect, and share.”
