Space-Jamie Jones NYE (2016)

At Club Space Miami’s NYE 2016 celebration with Jamie Jones, artist Haiiileen unveiled a site-specific immersive installation that merged sound, light, and sensory design into one of the city’s most vibrant nightlife moments.

This performance marked an early experiment in creating large-scale reactive environments inspired by electronic music. Using reflective materials, mirrored sculptures, and dynamic lighting sequences, Haiiileen transformed Space into a living visual ecosystem, blurring the line between stage and installation.

Title: Space NYE 2016: Jamie Jones – Immersive Light Performance by Haiiileen

  • Creative Director / Artist: Haiiileen
  • Medium: Performance Art | Installation | Light Design | Event Environment
  • 15 ft. long x 10 ft. wide x 18 ft. high
  • Location: Club Space, Miami, FL
  • Year: 2016

Space NYE 2016 with Jamie Jones was an installation-performance hybrid created by Haiiileen as a sensory interpretation of rhythm, reflection, and energy flow.

The environment featured mirrored structures, iridescent fabrics, projection-mapped visuals, and custom lighting synced to the DJ’s sonic frequencies — building a synesthetic conversation between music and motion.

Her performance presence within the environment became part of the structure itself — a living, breathing extension of the light choreography. This marked one of the first instances where Haiiileen performed inside her own constructed world, a practice that would become central to her later work.

“That night was electric — I felt like the room and I were one frequency.” — Haiiileen

  • Sonic-Visual Synthesis: Translating the energy of live sound into chromatic rhythm.
  • Embodied Installation: The artist becomes part of the architecture — performer and environment in unity.
  • Nightlife as Ritual: Reframing the club as a spiritual and communal art space.
  • Light as Language: Using color gradients and reflective materials to visualize emotion.
  • LED-integrated sculptures built with mirrored acrylic and aluminum surfaces.
  • Dynamic light programming reactive to BPM and frequency of the live set.
  • Projection mapping across structural panels to create dimensional depth.
  • Wearable performance costume blending into the light palette of the environment.
  • Collaborative soundscape with Jamie Jones’ music serving as the kinetic core.

“The Space NYE installation was a turning point — it was the first time I created something for sound that wasn’t just decorative, but alive. The room moved, the light breathed. It was an organism.”

This work represents an early moment where Haiiileen’s synesthetic relationship with sound began to define her practice, merging nightlife, art, and installation into a single discipline of emotional frequency engineering.

  • Marks Haiiileen’s first major Club Space installation, leading to her artist residency in 2018.
  • Predecessor to SunsetNoon (2016) and Techno Fish (2017) in sound-reactive experimentation.
  • Established her connection to the electronic music community as a visual performance artist.
  • Illustrates early development of her chromatic-light-as-language methodology.
  • Early use of reflective sculptural surfaces as immersive architecture.

“I always felt at home inside music — that night, I finally made music feel at home inside my art.”
