Diiisco Flare- Tidal (2019)

DIIISCO FLARE (2019) by Miami-based artist Haiiileen was a large-scale light and sound installation created for TIDAL during Miami Music Week.

Bridging nightlife and art, the work transformed an event environment into an immersive, frequency-responsive sculpture — fusing reflective materials, sound-reactive lighting, and prismatic motion to capture the pulse of Miami’s music scene.

Commissioned by TIDAL for Miami Music Week 2019, DIIISCO FLARE explored the physics of sound and reflection through immersive design. The installation featured mirrored spheres, light-reactive textures, and dynamic optical patterns that responded to bass frequencies in real time.

The environment created a sense of ecstatic movement — a “flare” of light and energy that mirrored both the crowd’s rhythm and Miami’s nightlife culture. Viewers were invited to move through the sculpture, becoming part of its choreography of illumination.

“It was about letting the music sculpt the space — I wanted the light to dance like sound does.” — Haiiileen

  • Sound Visualization: Translating rhythm into light sequences.
  • Kinetic Reflection: Using motion and material to express the physicality of sound.
  • Cultural Frequency: Capturing Miami’s nightlife as a visual wavelength.
  • Prismatic Performance: Integrating installation, music, and audience participation.
  • Suspended mirrored spheres refracting multi-directional light beams.
  • LED panels and lasers synchronized to live DJ frequencies.
  • Reflective flooring creating infinite mirrored depth.
  • Custom acrylic prisms dispersing the visual “flare” effect.
  • Live color mapping linked to tempo and bass modulation.

“DIIISCO FLARE was born from my obsession with how light behaves like sound — unpredictable, emotional, and alive. The nightclub became the canvas.”

This project solidified Haiiileen’s reputation as an artist who transforms performance venues into living installations, merging the spontaneity of music with the intentionality of fine art.

  • Marks the first TIDAL partnership involving immersive installation.
  • Connects Haiiileen’s ACIIID era (2018) with her Hiiipnotiiic x TIDAL (2020) work.
  • Early experiment in real-time sound-light interactivity.
  • Reinforces the artist’s philosophy of vibration as visual language.
  • Symbolic of Miami’s evolution into a hybrid hub for music, art, and performance technology.

“I wanted to create something that didn’t just look like sound — it felt like sound. DIIISCO FLARE was an energetic echo of the night.”
