“No Vacancy” project. “Haiii all the Tiiime’ Haiiileen (2023-2024)

Presented in collaboration with The City of Miami Beach, The Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority, and The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau as part of the “No Vacancy” project.
“HAIII ALL THE TIIIIME,” set atop the Surfcomber Hotel’s pool, encapsulates both the essence of Miami’s artistic spirit and the hotel’s legendary past, harmonizing the dimensional sundial symbolism with neo-acid tone. Throughout the evening, attendees will journey through a canvas of metamorphosing light, color, and emotion, reflecting on the cyclical nature of life and the ephemeral wonder of the here and the dimensional plan field

BY NIGHT / DAY
Nighttime: Come nightfall, the ambiance shifts dramatically. The sculptures, bathed in the soft glow of strategically placed solar powered lighting, transform into beacons of luminescence. Their neon vibrancy creates a stark contrast against the dark backdrop of the Miami night, making the sculptures appear almost ethereal. The reflections in the pool, now more subdued, add depth and dimension to the experience. The tranquil surroundings, punctuated by the sculptures’ glowing presence, immerse visitors in a dreamscape, gently nudging them to contemplate the vastness of the universe ~and our fleeting presence within it.
Daytime: As visitors approach the pool during the day, they are greeted by a dazzling array of colors, reflected and refracted by the sun’s rays hitting the sculptures. The fluid forms of the pieces shimmer, casting vibrant shadows and creating rainbow-hued halos on the water beneath. The interplay between sunlight, sculptures, and reflections challenges perceptions, urging visitors to question their understanding of time and space. The constant movement of water in the pool, coupled with the shifting sun, ensures that no two moments are alike, much like the ephemeral nature of time itself

First-generation Cuban-American and Miami, FL native Aileen Quintana, also known as Haiiileen, is an interdisciplinary artist known for her neo-acid experimental works that span through several different mediums and facets. Her dedication to the local artistic community fuels her capacity to create and tear down the boundaries that have yet to be explored within her own mind. Her initial breakthrough as a self-taught makeup artist led her to build a highly successful career utilizing faces as her canvases. What makes Haiiileen’s practice so intrinsically distinctive is her synesthesia, a rare sensory condition which transforms everything she hears into visual imagery. For her, it is essential to explore emotional language and self-evolution, driven by a never-ending curiosity. This has led her to study physics, she is able to grasp a full understanding of how sound, light, and color all interact with one another. Haiiileen then incorporates her findings into 3-dimensional mediums and installations, where she can bring her synesthetic visions to life and transport her viewers to transcendent, alternate worlds.Haiiileen continuously exhibits her ability to create thought-provoking material that provides a deep expression and experimental approach to our environmental perceptions and conventional ideas of reality through her work and create more meaningful social
