Hipnotiiic, Haiii On Society (2020)

Part of the immersive Haiii on Society (2020) exhibition commissioned by PMG Properties, Hiiipnotiiic (2020) expands on Haiiileen’s long-standing exploration of perception, optics, and consciousness through light.
Drawing from her ongoing research into frequency-based color theory and synesthetic design, the piece transforms a static sculpture into a living illusion — a light field that responds to viewer perspective. The installation’s reflective layers create a recursive, “infinite loop” effect, encouraging audiences to question what’s real, what’s imagined, and what’s simply refracted.

Optiiics, 2020

  • 2 original case studies of clear acrylic rods set in a hydro-dipped backed frame.

Hiiipnotiiic (2020) is a kinetic light sculpture that manipulates depth, reflection, and optical perception through precision-cut acrylic and mirrored planes. The sculpture creates a hypnotic vortex of color and geometry, inviting viewers into a shifting visual dialogue between surface and void.

The work extends Haiiileen’s commitment to immersive sensory environments, translating synesthetic perception into physical space. Within Haiii on Society, it served as the exhibition’s introspective core — a mirror not only of light but of consciousness.

“When you stare into Hiiipnotiiic, you’re not just seeing light — you’re watching energy fold back into itself.” — Haiiileen

  • Perceptual Loops: Exploring infinite reflection and the illusion of depth through optical layering.
  • Synesthetic Translation: Visualizing rhythm and frequency through color waves.
  • Material Philosophy: Using light as a sculptural medium and reflection as narrative.
  • Sensory Meditation: Encouraging self-awareness and quiet introspection through hypnotic visual rhythm.
  • Custom acrylic sculpture with precision-cut mirrored panels
  • Internal LED lighting with chromatic sequencing
  • UV resin sealant for light diffusion
  • Mounted reflective base designed to create infinite depth
  • Sound-reactive light cycle synchronized to ambient sound frequencies

Displayed within the Haiii on Society (2020) exhibition alongside Orbit, Micro Haiii, Haiii Light, Haiii on Art, and Neo-Aciiid.

“This piece came from a desire to understand how stillness can move. I wanted to make something that visually breathes — something alive without motion.”

Hiiipnotiiic became a study in minimalism and sensation — a quiet center in the vibrant chaos of Haiii on Society. While much of the exhibition focused on extroverted energy and social color, Hiiipnotiiic served as its meditative axis. It remains one of the artist’s most introspective works — a precursor to her later explorations in reflective geometry (Spectral Resonance, ICU, and Prismatic Queen).

  • Key optical installation from Haiii on Society (2020) commissioned by PMG.
  • Bridges Haiiileen’s Aciiid and Prismatic bodies of work through reflection and geometry.
  • Marks the artist’s transition toward mindful perception and visual meditation in design.
  • One of the final major light-sculpture exhibitions presented pre-pandemic.
  • Established technical standards for later works in mirrored UV resin and optical lamination.

Hiiipnotiiic is a mirror of movement — not in space, but in mind. It’s what happens when light remembers itself.”
