Presented as part of my “iiifinity” installation at iii Points 2021, the NEO–HAIII Series expands my synesthetic language into a fully illuminated, atmospheric environment. These two large-scale UV-reactive works—neo-haiii and wavy-neo-haiii—activate the space with iridescent pigments, liquified gradients, and pulsating neon energy. Installed within a darkened room and bathed in blue light, the pieces become portals: paintings that behave like moving organisms.

Project Description
The NEO–HAIII works are part of a larger immersive environment created for the iiifinity installation at iii Points 2021. These two wall-mounted UV-reactive pieces radiate with circular chromatic fields, layered pigments, and signature “synesthetic bloom” patterns that create the illusion of organic matter in motion. Under LED and blacklight, each color shifts—pushing the works into a state of glowing, psychedelic animation.
Mounted against textured dark walls, the pieces appear to float, their edges dissolving into the ambient blue light. The experience of viewing them becomes atmospheric rather than purely visual, blending pigment, motion, and environment into a living color system.
Installation Components
- Large-format hand-painted UV-reactive panels
- High-reflection resin coats creating liquid-surface distortions
- Wall-mounted glass for optical depth
- Immersive blue lighting & blacklight systems
- Darkened architectural environment
Concept + Framework
The NEO–HAIII series expands my research into chromatic ecology, synesthetic mapping, and energy-field visualization. The circular forms resemble cellular mitosis, ripple formations, or vibrational nodes—marking each painting as an organism rather than an object.
The works explore:
- color as an energetic event
- emotional frequencies expressed through pigment
- blacklight chroma as an immersive environment
- the bodily experience of luminosity
The “wavy” distortions and layered transparencies produce a sense of hyper-fluidity, aligning with my ongoing investigations into altered states, perceptual expansion, and color as a living entity.
Artist Reflection
“These pieces breathe. Under the blue light and UV glow, they feel like worlds inside worlds—color organisms that pulse, mutate, and come alive with the energy of the room.”
— Haiiileen
Archival Significance
NEO–HAIII marks a crucial development in the evolution of my color language, bridging painting, installation art, and immersive lighting. This series represents:
- the transition from physical surface painting to environmental chroma
- my integration of UV-reactive mediums into festival-scale installations
- the refinement of my “synesthetic bloom” technique
As part of iii Points 2021, these works exist in lineage with large-scale audiovisual environments and Miami’s experimental art culture.
