Haiiileen uses an experimental approach to this piece at a time when she was producing and publishing consistent content for Z!NC Magazine. The shoot took place in Downtown LA and captures the models in a fun and creative way bringing Haiiileen’s imagination to life. It’s almost as if the models were using a Snapchat filter, but way before the concept was yet actualized as a Snapchat filter.

SUNSET @ NOON

unspecified-8.jpeg

Inspired by Vaporwave, a culture characterized by a nostalgic fascination of retro aesthetics, video games, technology and advertising, Sunset@Noon submerges festivalgoers into a state of alternate dimension. The installation takes over the entirety of a 6,000 square foot warehouse space at MANA, morphing into a multisensory experience of art, music, and fashion, each expressed in vintage, internet based aesthetics. At the pinnacle of the room will be an interactive fashion installation that mirrors the appearance of a real life shopping mall, complete with department stores, kiosks, and abstractions by local fashion brands ISHINE365, Style Mafia, and Algae. The multisensory mall installation fuses audio and visual dimension into reality through

a virtual shopping experience, echoed by experimental performances courtesy of local musicians Virgo, Uchi, Otto von Schirach, Rat Bastard and more. Attendees will stroll through time and space, as the vibration of psychedelic music pulsates, and one dimensional barriers slowly fade away. New forms of visual art will be showcased such as a transformation chamber “Make Up Salon,” where guests can peer through acrylic doors and catch a glimpse of behind the scenes hair and makeup artists transforming the performers. III Point’s artists will enter the chamber throughout the course of the festival, providing more of a high fashion look for their performance.

III Points 2015: HAILEEN

  HAILEEN

In “HAILEEN” (2015) Artist Haiiileen creates a transformative narrative in the form of multiple rooms, inspired by her travels, lust and sexuality she takes on a more refined approach to performance art spaces creating a deeper meaning to each room. The first room is a bonsai garden with trees, a flowing river, and colors reminiscent of a japanese sunrise. The second room is a transformation chamber where hair stylists and makeup artists await to makeover guests. The third room is a game show room which has a performance pieces inspired by anime and japanese video games. Last but not least, the fourth room is a seduction room riddled with a dominatrix theme. Haiiileen left her own phone number in advertisements pasted all over the walls of the room for those “seeking therapy.” Throughout the entire event people were calling, leaving her voicemails and text messages with their concerns and heartfelt messages.

Acrylic, Steel, LED

2 ft W x 4 ft L x 1.5 ft D
206 Discotec is Haiiileen’s first commissioned sculpture created back in April 2017 making it a one of a kind special mixed media project. Inspired by architectural design and her use of vaporwave, color, and more sustainable use of acrylics. She utilizes acrylic, steel and LED along with an iridescent treatment to the wall in order to produce a 2 foot wide, 4 foot long, and 1 ½ foot deep 3D sculpture as part of a private collection at a residence based in New York.

Disco Moon, 2014

Silicon, Glass, Steel, Styrofoam

91.4 cm x 61 cm (36 in. x 24 in.)

Disco Moon is a literal reflection of my belief that everything should be a disco ball in the sense of the feeling of happiness they bring to life. Utilizing mirrors and lights as a medium allowed me to project the notion that we shouldn’t have to be in the presence of an actual disco ball to feel its radiance. This piece was commissioned for III Point’s office space and is illuminated by custom 360 degree LED lighting.
