25ft d acrylic bubble installation commission by Downtown Doral
ACIIID BUBBLE was an opportunity born out of the coronavirus pandemic, where I asked to create an installation inside a life-size bubble in the heart of Downtown Doral. The project was commissioned by Downtown Doral Developers and in support of Pop-Up Events Group. During these times of isolation and social distancing, I was inspired to create an environment that felt festive and induced euphoria through light, color and refraction. Inside, the bubble contains layers of transparent and metallic materials that reflect the changing colors of the intensely saturated lighting that surround the perimeter of the space. At the center, fourteen disco balls are suspended and hung at different heights as they overlook an array of hexagonally shaped mirrors. The installation serves to remind viewers of life before COVID-19, where spaces like ACIID BUBBLE begged for human participation. In the same token, I hope that installation instills hope of better times to come as we reconfigure our lives during this moment of uncertainty.
